(38) باب التَّسْهِيلِ فِي صِيَامِ يَوْمِ الشَّكِّ

(38) Chapter: Lenience Concerning Fasting the day of Doubt (AR)

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ اللَّيْثِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ جَدِّي، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي شُعَيْبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الأَوْزَاعِيِّ، وَابْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ " أَلاَ لاَ تَقَدَّمُوا الشَّهْرَ بِيَوْمٍ أَوِ اثْنَيْنِ إِلاَّ رَجُلٌ كَانَ يَصُومُ صِيَامًا فَلْيَصُمْهُ " .

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah used to say:
"Do not fast one or two days ahead of the month, unless the one who used to observe a regular fast. In that case let him fast." ' (AR)
