The conclusion is of great significance when concluding a gathering, as it is the last thing people take home. Coming together and parting ways after a gathering are moments when one can seek forgiveness through making dua for the expiation of sins, said at the conclusion of a sitting or gathering. Forgiving others and seeking forgiveness is essential for social harmony, as often, people can say things unintentionally during gatherings. Seeking forgiveness through dua can serve as a way that people can seek forgiveness for their actions from Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) and also pray for the forgiveness of others.
The Holy Quran highlights the importance of pardon in the verse “. . . and let them pardon and overlook. Would you not like that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) should forgive you? And Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) is Forgiving and Merciful.” [Quran 24:22]

Preis sei Dir, o Allah, und Lob sei Dir. Ich bezeuge, dass es keine Gottheit gibt außer Dir. Ich bitte Dich um Vergebung und ich bereue bei Dir. As reported by An-Nasa’i in Hisn al-Muslim 196, Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) made this supplication to conclude a gathering. He sat in no gathering or did not recite a prayer without making this supplication. Making dua for the expiation of sins, said at the conclusion of a sitting or gathering should be done collectively where everyone joins together for dua and invokes forgiveness from their Lord. The supplication should be made before people love and done in a way that allows people to reflect on their actions in the gathering.
The benefits of making this supplication don't benefit one person but it is for the entire community's benefit. Asking for Allah's mercy softens one's heart for others and makes one conscious of their actions. Making supplication in a group can heighten one's self-awareness and make them more mindful of their responsibility towards their community. On a personal level, being around others in a gathering and including others in one's supplication also makes way for personal purification.
