For parents, children are the most cherished blessing. It is the responsibility of the parents to make sure that their child is taken care of and that they make every effort for the well-being and protection of their child. However, parents can't go everywhere with their children and cannot always be with them. The best solution, in this case, is to give your children in the protection of Allah. Muslims believe that there is no greater Protector than Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى). It is a profound act of faith and trust in Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) when parents make dua for placing children under Allah's protection.
Ibn Abbas narrated that the Prophet Muhammad(ﷺ) used to seek Allah's protection against the evil eyes, every devil, and every beast by reciting the supplication [Hisn al-Muslim 146]. This is a practice that is taught to us by Prophet Muhammad(ﷺ) so that we entrust Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) for the protection of our children.
The etiquette of making dua for placing children under Allah's protection is, first and foremost, making dua with honest intention and faith that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) is the best Provider and the Protector. In the Quran, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) encourages believers to make dua for their children: "Our Lord, bless us with wives and children, who may be the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders of the righteous"(Quran 25:74). It is also the responsibility of the parents to maintain a healthy environment at home and provide them with their protection and then make the supplication for the wellness of their offspring.

'U'eethukumaa bikalimaatil-laahit-taammati min kulli shaytaanin wa haammatin, wa min kulli 'aynin laammatin.
I seek protection for you in the Perfect Words of Allah from every devil and every beast, and from every envious blameworthy eye.
Making dua for placing children under the protection of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) has benefits for both parents and their children. When one leaves the matters in the hand of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى), it relieves one of the anxieties and worries of the unknown. It soothes and calms the parents' hearts, and the children themselves feel a greater sense of protection and being looked after. This feeling of being protected allows them to do their best without any worry or separation anxiety from their parents or guardians.
Quran orders the parents to ensure that they provide a nourishing environment and then educate and train their children to protect themselves.
Surah Balad and Surah Waqaiyah, along with Surah Nas and Surah Falaq, are recited for protection.
