(356) بَابُ أَحَبِّ الأسْمَاءِ إِلَى اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ

(356) Chapter: The names which Allah Almighty loves the most (ES)

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُهَاجِرٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَقِيلُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي وَهْبٍ، وَكَانَتْ لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ: تَسَمَّوْا بِأَسْمَاءِ الأَنْبِيَاءِ، وَأَحَبُّ الأسْمَاءِ إِلَى اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: عَبْدُ اللهِ، وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، وَأَصْدَقُهَا: حَارِثٌ، وَهَمَّامٌ، وَأَقْبَحُهَا: حَرْبٌ، وَمُرَّةُ.


Abu Wahb, a Companion, reported that the Prophet, may Allah blesshim and grant him peace, said, "Name yourselves with the names of the Prophets.The names which Allah Almighty loves most are 'Abdullah and 'Abdu'r-Rahman.The most truthful names are Harith and Humam. The ugliest names are Harband Murra." (ES)
