Dua When the Sick Have Renounced All Hope of Life

Health is a blessing from Allah. Sickness is always a challenge as it hinders our ability to live life. However, grievous ailments or long-term illnesses cause despair in the sick. Many people worldwide suffer from incurable diseases like cancer, while others suffer from illnesses requiring constant medication and precautions, like thalassemia, diabetes, and auto-immune diseases.

Constant visits to the hospitals, weakness, fatigue, and a feeling that they are a burden on their family can often cause people to despair. However, what is more tragic and painful is when the sick have renounced all hope of life. When hope turns to despair, it is in supplication and prayer that one can find solace and strength to go on.

The only thing that drives one in life is the hope of something better, but when there is sign of betterment, when you know that your sickness will not improve, it takes away hope and the spirit of living. During this time, refuge in Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) and seeking His love and guidance can make the rest of the days of one's life easier.
