The dua upon hearing the Athan is one of the Sunnahs of the Prophet Muhammad (ï·º) and carries immense benefits and virtues for the one who recites it regularly. In another hadith, it is reported that the Prophet Muhammad( ï·º) used to make the dua upon hearing the Athan (Sahih al-Bukhari 613).

One must make an effort to recite the dua upon hearing the Athan in the best way possible. The best way to recite the dua is to be considerate and respectful of the Athan and put aside all the activities you are involved in once the Athan starts. You should listen to the Athan, repeat after the Muezzin as directed in the Hadith, and then, after the completion of the Athan, make this dua.
