(385) بَابُ مَنْ قَالَ: إِنَّ مِنَ الْبَيَانِ سِحْرًا

(385) Chapter: Someone saying, "There is magic in eloquence" (IT)

حَدَّثَنَا عَارِمٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ رَجُلاً، أَوْ أَعْرَابِيًّا، أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَتَكَلَّمَ بِكَلاَمٍ بَيِّنٍ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم: إِنَّ مِنَ الْبَيَانِ سِحْرًا، وَإِنَّ مِنَ الشِّعْرِ حِكْمَةً.


Ibn 'Abbas said that a man - or a bedouin - came to theProphet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and spoke some eloquentwords. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Thereis some magic eloquence and some wisdom in poetry." (IT)
