It is located in Owada, Nishiyodogawa Ward, a bustling neighbourhood that is accessible by public and private transport. The mosque’s building is of modest design, with a green and white exterior. The large black Kalima Tayyaba on the front door makes it evident to passersby that it is a Muslim place of worship. The building is 4 stories tall and has multiple prayer areas that accommodate a large number of worshippers during congregational prayers.
The mosque has a separate area for women where they can offer prayers peacefully and comfortably. It offers its services in English, Japanese, and Urdu to cater to a diverse community. The Mosque offers its services for Friday sermons, prayers, and also special prayers during Ramadan. The Muslims offer Taraweeh after Isha salah in congregation during the holy month of Ramadan and perform other voluntary worship, such as recitation of the Quran, nafil salat, etc. The mosque offers them iftar, prayer services, and a place where they can offer other ibadahs.
Osaka Mosque organizes Eid salah during both Eid: Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha. It also provides an educational platform where kids and adults can learn about Islam. Osaka Ibaraki Mosque is located in Ibaraki City, a location between Osaka and Kyoto. The Mosque is easily accessible by public and private transport – you can take a bus, train, or car to the mosque. Osaka Ibaraki Mosque is close to Osaka University, making it easily accessible to Muslim students and teachers in the university. Established in 2006, the Osaka Ibaraki Mosque has a simple yet appealing architecture. The exterior is off-white and cream, adorned with arches and filigree in muted gold. Golden moons and minarets on top of the two-story building solidify the building’s look as a mosque. The front door has a canopy with the name of the mosque written in a clear font.
The interior is spacious, with well-maintained prayer rooms that are open to congregants for congregational prayers five times a day, and for the special Jummah (Friday) sermon and prayers. Along with daily prayers, the mosque organizes Taraweeh prayers in congregation during Ramadan and Eid prayers to make it easy for Muslims to perform their religious duties at ease and, according to Sunnah.
In addition, the Osaka Ibaraki Mosque offers weekend programs for kids and adults where they teach the Quran, Hadith, Seerah, and Fiqh. Community services, such as Islamic marriage officiation, Islamic funeral services, and counseling, are also provided. The mosque is not limited to a certain ethnic group, but Muslims from all cultures, including Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Malaysia, Africa, and converted Japanese, join together to perform salah, learn about their religion, and celebrate religious festivals like Ramadan and Eid.

Masjid Istiqlal Osaka is a comparatively new mosque in Osaka, Japan. The mosque is the initiative of the Indonesian Muslim community in Osaka. It was inaugurated in March 2023. The mosque is named after Masjid Istiqlal in Jakarta, showing the connection to the Indonesian community. The mosque is located conveniently between the JR Imamiya/Shin-Imamiya Stations and Osaka Metro Daikokucho/Hanazonocho Stations. Thus, it is easily accessible by public transport. Since it is a purpose-built mosque, the exterior is beautifully designed with Islamic design. The 5-story building is adorned with black and white tiles that say Allah and Muhammad in Arabic against a beige backdrop. The name of the mosque is written in bold golden in English, Japanese, and Indonesian languages. On the left and right of the mosque, Allah and Muhammad in golden metalwork adorn the mosque’s facade. Three arches are also prominently displayed, a further nod to Islamic architecture.
The first floor of the mosque is the ablution (wudu) area for men. The founder of the mosque, Mr Herizal, has a vision to establish a halal food shop and an Islamic book archive on the first floor in the coming years. The second floor is dedicated to women – it has a prayer area that can accommodate 300 women, a waiting room, and a women-only lift. The third and fourth floors have prayer areas for men. Each floor has a prayer area that faces Mecca and has the space to accommodate 300 worshippers. There is a waiting room or multipurpose room on each floor. The fifth floor is reserved for an Islamic school for children and sleeping quarters for teachers in the mosque.
The mosque organizes five daily salah with jama’ah (congregation) every day. It also organizes Friday sermons and prayers. In 2023, the mosque hosted its first-ever Taraweeh and Eid salah in the congregation. Muslims from all over Japan, especially Indonesian Muslims, came to offer their prayers in the mosque, and around 2700 people offered their prayers. The Masjid also serves as an educational institution providing Islamic education for children and adults, helping them learn about their religion and making a stronger connection with their faith. It provides various services for the Muslim community in Osaka, including Janazah services, Nikkah Services, and Donations services. It helps the Muslims to perform these rituals according to Shariah law. You can also book animals for slaughter to fulfil your Eid-ul-Adha obligation. They are on a mission to help Muslims living in Osaka live their life according to Islam.

Prayer Room at Namba City is a small Musallah located in the massive shopping center known as Namba City. It is a small yet neat and clean prayer room that has a wudu space where warm water is also available. It has separate sections for men and women so both can offer prayers at their accurate time. It is situated in the B1F of the main Namba City Building, and it can be accessed through the information center located on B2F. You can request them for access and they will make you sign a form that requires your nationality, name, and other information to provide you with a card and password to access the room.
