King Fahd Islamic Cultural Center and the associated mosque, Mezquita de Palermo, was built with the financial assistance of King Fahd of Saudi Arabia and was gifted to the Government of Argentina. It was completed in 1996 and officially inaugurated in 2000. The project started after the State visit of the President of Argentina to Saudi Arabia. After his visit to Saudi Arabia, the President donated a piece of land measuring 34000 square meters for the construction of this mosque.

King Fahd Islamic Cultural Center and Mosque is the largest mosque in Latin America. It provides various facilities, like five regular prayers as well as Friday Prayers. Additionally, Islamic education and Quran reciting classes are also arranged here. Arabian language classes are also scheduled, enabling Muslims to learn the language. Apart from religious activities, other cultural, social and sports events are also managed here, like football and cricket.

The building of the mosque is beautifully constructed in Islamic architectural style. It has one dome and two minarets. Islamic Culture and Heritage in Buenos Aires
