(22) باب فِي التَّكْبِيرِ عَلَى الْجَنَازَةِ

(22) Chapter: Saying the takbir over the deceased (JA)

وَحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " مَاتَ الْيَوْمَ عَبْدٌ لِلَّهِ صَالِحٌ أَصْحَمَةُ " . فَقَامَ فَأَمَّنَا وَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ .

Jabir b. 'Abdullah reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:
There died today the pious servant of Allah, Ashama. So he stood up and led us in (funeral prayer) over him. (JA)
