In the past, animals were used as a means of transportation worldwide. The residents of desert states like Arabia, use camels because they are the only animals to walk without losing balance in loose sand. In the 21st century, we use automobiles to commute to our educational institutes, workplaces, and homes. Whether you are mounting an animal or whether you are getting into a car, train, airplane, or any other form of transport, you must start with Allah's name. It's ideal to seek Allah's protection before we get into our vehicles. You never know which calamity remembering Allah before traveling will protect you from and which blessing it may bring your way.

Bismillaah , Alhamdu lillaah . Subhaanal-lathee sakhkhara lanaa haathaa wa maa kunnaa lahu muqrineen. Wa 'innaa 'ilaa Rabbinaa lamunqaliboon . Alhamdu lillaah, alhamdu lillaah, alhamdu lillaah, Allaahu 'Akbar, Allaahu 'Akbar, Allaahu 'Akbar, subhaanakal-laahumma 'innee dhalamtu nafsee faghfir lee, fa'innahu laa yaghfiruth-thunooba 'illaa 'Anta.

Поистине, я сам себя обидел, прости же меня, ведь никто не простит грехов, кроме Тебя”, после чего рассмеялся. Я спросил: “О повелитель правоверных, почему ты смеёшься?”». [‘Али бин Раби‘а передал, что ‘Али] ответил: «Я видел, как посланник Аллаха (с.а.в.с.) поступил также, как сейчас поступил я, а потом рассмеялся, и я спросил [его]: “О посланник Аллаха, почему ты смеёшься?” [В ответ] он сказал: “Поистине, Господь твой любит, когда Его раб говорит: ‹Господь мой! Прости мне грехи мои, ведь никто не простит грехи, кроме Тебя›.
The Prophet (pbuh) used to perform two raka'at nawafil before he set off on a journey. The Prophet (pbuh) said: "When you leave your house, perform two raka'at, and this will safeguard you against evil." Therefore, it is also recommended to perform 2 rakkat nawafil followed by the recitation of the dua for mounting any means of transport.
God forbid, commutes on modern vehicles can be dangerous in case of speeding, an issue with your vehicle, and other risks associated with setting off on long travel journeys. Therefore, reciting the above-mentioned dua can bring Allah Almighty's help and blessings in assuring your journey is safe, convenient, and free of any calamities.
