And to Thamud [We sent] their brother Salih. He said, “O my people, worship Allah;
you have no deity other than Him. He has produced you from the earth and settled you in it, so ask forgiveness of Him and then repent to Him. Indeed, my Lord is near and responsive.” (Quran 11:61)
And He answers [the supplication of] those who have believed and done righteous deeds and increases [for] them from His bounty. But the disbelievers will have a severe punishment. (Quran 42:26)
Is He [not best] who responds to the desperate one when he calls upon Him and removes evil and makes you inheritors of the earth? Is there a deity with Allah? Little do you remember. (Quran 27:62)

Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) has many names, referred to as Asma-ul-Husna and one of these names is Al-Mujib which means ‘The Responder’ and ‘The Answerer’. This attribute of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) reaffirms the faith and trust of believers in him because it is only Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) that we turn too for our Duas and our prayers. When believers make dua while hoping that these Duas will be answered, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) answers all their Duas and their supplications. He responds to all prayers and supplications and this encourages believers to seek help from Allah(سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) in difficult times and to rely upon him. Al Mujib also refers to God’s mercy and kindness as he always responds to believer’s prayers.
When believers turn to Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) to seek help or to make prayers, he responds to them as Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى)is near to all of us. Since Allah(سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) is also the All-Knowing and he is aware of every single thing that occurs in the universe, he knows a believer’s needs, their troubles, their emotions and what they pray for. Only he knows what is in our hearts and everytime we turn to God, he always responds because he is Al-Mujib (The Responsive). The Surah below encourages believers to engage in prayers, supplications and to seek mercy from God:
And to Thamud [We sent] their brother Salih. He said, “O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. He has produced you from the earth and settled you in it, so ask forgiveness of Him and then repent to Him. Indeed, my Lord is near and responsive. (Quran 11:61)
Moreover, Allah(سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) encourages believers to constantly seek help and mercy from him, to turn to him in times of need and to engage in supplication. He ensures them of his response and also mentions the consequences of rejecting his worship in the Surah below:
And your Lord has said, "Invoke Me and I will respond to you. Surely the ones who wax too proud to do Me worship will soon enter Hell utterly abject. (Surah Ghafir, 40:60)
While believers are encouraged to constantly make Duas and supplications, it may happen sometimes that there might be a delay in the answering of your prayer. In such a situation, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) urges his believers not get disheartened and lose hope, instead they should continue praying to him. This is because only Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) has knowledge about our past, present and future and only Allah(سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) knows what's best for us. If there is a delay in the answering of your prayers, it’s because Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى)considers it better for you at that moment. Only Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) is aware of what is good for us and what is not. This Surah encourages believers to not give up hope and seek help from God:
And Noah called on Us, and most excellent are We to answer the prayer. (Qur’an, 37:75)
This attribute of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) reflects his commitment to answering prayers and his kindness, mercy and compassion. Allah(سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) answers the Duas and prayers of his believers and the believers foster a stronger connection with God.
Additionally, believers can recite this name in their daily prayers, and can incorporate it in their Duas and dhikr (which is daily remembrance). This leads to gratitude and gratefulness amongst the believers and they learn to rely more on Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى).
Furthermore, believers are encouraged to incorporate the recitation of this name in their daily life. They can recite this name while they are performing supplications so that it becomes a part of their daily routine for them.
The recitation of this name can be done during morning and evening times so that believers start and end their day with the recitation of this name. Also, believers can recite this name during night hours, in times of solitude and they can also recite this name during moments of difficulty, trials and tribulations, special occasions, decision-making or any other moment.
Moreover, believers are encouraged to name their children after this name of Allah(سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى). When you name your child after Al-Mujib, it fosters a connection between Allah(سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) and the child as it symbolizes a desire for them to embody the values of kindness and mercy.
When parents name their child after Al-Mujib, it depicts the idea that parents are expressing hope that their children will grow into kind and compassionate individuals who will be more connected to their creator and invoking God’s blessings upon children named after Al-Mujib allows believers to seek guidance, protection and to lead a more responsive life.
There are many names of Allah(سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) that have the same meaning as Al-Mujib and some of them are mentioned below:

Moreover, there are many Surahs referring to this attribute of Allah and highlight his responsiveness in answering the prayers of his believers. One of these Surahs is as follows:
As for those who struggle in Our cause, We will surely guide them along Our Way. And Allah is certainly with the good-doers.
There are various Hadiths that refer to Allah’s attribute of being responsive and answering believers’ prayers. Some of them have been mentioned below:
Call upon Allah while being certain of being answered, and know that Allah does not respond to a supplication from the heart of one heedless and occupied by play. ( Sunan al-Tirmidhī 3479)
Another Hadith referring to this attribute of Allah is:
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: The supplication of one of you is answered, as long as he is not in haste, saying: ‘I have supplicated to my Lord, but He did not answer me.'" In another narration by Muslim: “The supplication of a slave will continue to be answered, as long as he does not ask for a sin or sever a tie of kinship, and is not hasty.” It was said: O Messenger of Allah, what is hastiness?” He said: "“It is to say: 'I have supplicated and supplicated, but I have not seen it has been answered.' He would then lose hope and stop supplicating. (Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslims)
Both these Hadiths encourage believers to pray to Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) and to seek help from him. However, these Hadiths also warn believers that if they make prayers and supplications in a hurry, then their prayers will not be accepted. Hence, believers are encouraged to pray in a calm manner and to supplicate appropriately.
