Anguilla, a small British territory in the Caribbean, is a Christian-majority nation. Islam has reached the shores of this beautiful country, and according to a census carried out in 2010, 0.3% of its population (14,638) identified as Muslim. Although official population estimates post-2010 are unavailable, we can assume that the number of Muslims in Anguilla has increased since 2010 due to a general rise in migration and Islamization trends globally.

Whether you are one of the few Muslims in Anguilla or a Muslim tourist visiting the country for its sandy beaches, you will be hard-pressed to find a mosque in the country. The Muslim and Quran platform will help you find local mosques, connect with the local Muslim community, and offer your prayers on time. Download the mobile application to access the premium feature.

Islamic Culture and Heritage in Anguilla

Due to the scarce Muslim population in Anguilla, it is challenging to determine where the Muslim population on the island came from. However, similar to other former British Caribbean territories, it can be estimated that most Muslims came from the Indian subcontinent and eventually settled down in the territory. Most of the population from the Indian subcontinent arrived in the now-American and British Caribbean territories as indentured servants after slavery was abolished. However, the current Muslim population also consists of immigrants who immigrated to seek out a better life for themselves from other parts of the world.

Recently, an Islamic cultural center and mosque have also opened up on the island to cater to the growing and already present Muslim population in Anguilla. The Islamic Cultural Center of Anguilla, or "Masjid an-Nur," offers a spacious and beautiful place of worship for Muslims to practice their faith in the region and also come together as a community to connect and socialize with one another. The Islamic Cultural Center of Anguilla also has small sessions of commentary on various juz of the Holy Quran and khutbahs and lessons to teach the worshippers about Islam.
