Finland is a diverse country that is home to around 22,000 Muslims. The constitution of the country stresses religious freedom, and Muslims are also free to worship their religion and build mosques in the country. The Muslims of Finland usually belong to different ethnic backgrounds, with a majority of the population having immigrated to the country from their home countries, which is why Finland hosts Muslims from the Sunni, Shia, and Sufi faiths, with all Muslims residing peacefully in their respective cities.
The majority of the Muslims in Finland reside in Helsinki and other big cities, such as Turku and Tampere. The largest group currently are Somalis, Arabs, Kurds, Kosovo, Albanians, Bosnians, and Turkish Muslims. However, many of the Muslims in Finland are known to be first-generation migrants, followed by the second-generation and children of mixed marriages increasing in number, according to Tuomas Martikainen – a researcher at the Academy of Finland.
Muslim and Quran provides you with accurate prayer timings for every city in Finland on our website and app. So, to stay updated – we recommend you download our app to stay updated on the go.
