Islam came to Namibia in the late 1800s in Ludertiz when a small community of Indian merchants and traders settled there. These initial Muslims built the first mosque in Namibia. This mosque is considered a community hub for the Muslims in Ludertiz till today. Islam is significantly widespread in the capital of Namibia, Windhoek.
