An island country in the Caribbean – Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, is located in the southeast Winward Islands of the Lesser Antilles in the West Indies. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is a Christian country. However, a small population of Muslims coexist with their Christian counterparts on the island. The country's constitution is secular, which is what gives Muslim present on the island a chance to freely practice their religion and also build their places of worship. According to a report by the United States Department of State, there are approximately 2000 Muslims on the island.
The Muslims on the island have, over the years, managed to establish three mosques on the territory to meet the needs of the 2000 Muslims present on the island. The two major mosques in the island country are as follows:
Located in Granby St in Kingstown, the mosque is open 24 hours and Muslims from all ethnic backgrounds are welcome to pray their five obligatory prayers in the mosque along with their Friday/Jummah prayer.
Masjid Al Islam is another place of worship for Muslims on the island. Located in Arnos Vale, this mosque is also open 24/7, and Muslims can offer their prayers inside the premises in a peaceful and spacious environment.
Praying Salah is one of the main pillars of Islam. As a Muslim, no matter where in the world you may be and what you may be doing – once you know it's time for prayer, it's mandatory to drop everything and offer your salah first. Huraith bin Qabisah said, 'I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) say:
"Indeed, the first deed by which a servant will be called to account on the Day of Resurrection is his Salat. If it is complete, he is successful and saved, but if it is defective, he has failed and lost. So if something is deficient in his obligatory (prayers), then the Lord, Mighty and Sublime says: 'Look! Are there any voluntary (prayers) for my worshipper?' So with them, what was deficient in his obligatory (prayers) will be completed. Then the rest of his deeds will be treated like that." – Jami at Tirmidhi 413
Therefore, offering the five prayers is obligatory for every Muslim. However, for people who travel from one place to another regularly, be it for work or pleasure, it can get quite difficult to keep themselves informed about prayer times regularly.
