Wadi al-Aqeeq

Wadi al-Aqeeq

Wadi al-Aqeeq runs along the western side boundary of Medina. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) referred to it as the ‘ blessed valley’ .
  • Sa’ ad bin Abi-Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “ We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) at the Mu’ arras, and he said, ‘ Someone came to me saying, “ You are in the Blessed Valley!” ’ ” [Al-Bukhari]
  • Due to this, many sahabah (companions) and followers, after the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) departed from this world, built themselves houses around the Al-Aqeeq valley. One of these was the Castle of Urwah bin Zubair (Allah show mercy on him), the restored version of which still stands today.
