The root ra-zay-qaf (ر ز ق) has appeared 123 times in the Quran in various derived forms. The examples are:
The word Razzaq linguistically reflects intensification. It indicates the complete way of providing and sustaining a life. Rizq encompasses not only money but everything needed to live a peaceful and prosperous life. Rizq includes wealth, health, family, knowledge, good manners, safety, a kind heart, and contentment. Allah-Ar-Razaq provides all of these.
Ar-Razaq means He creates and nourishes all sources of subsistence. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى), out of His love and kindness, has taken the responsibility to provide rizq to every creature in the world. In Surah e Hud verse number six, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) says:
There is no moving creature on earth whose provision is not guaranteed by Allah. And He knows where it lives and where it is laid to rest. All is written in a perfect Record.
The significance and impact of this name and attribute of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) are magnificent. When we firmly believe that our provisions are from Allah and He (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) will provide us with them. Our hearts get free of worries. We focus more on effort and hard work, avoid Haram means, offer obligatory Salah, fear Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى), and ask only from Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) for Rizq:
And whoever is mindful of Allah, He will make a way out for them. And provide for them from sources they could never imagine. And whoever trusts Allah, then He alone is sufficient for them. Indeed, Allah achieves His Will, And Allah has already set a destiny for everything. (Quran-65:2,3)
When you are struggling with the means of living, call out Ar-Razzaq and pray to Him day and night. Ask Allah-Ar-Razzaq to open the doors of Rizq for you. The beloved Prophet (ﷺ) has taught us to recite this dua in the morning and evening dhikr and after obligatory prayers.
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, wholesome sustenance, and deeds that are accepted.

Indeed, Allah alone is the Supreme Provider—Lord of all Power, Ever Mighty. (Quran 51:58)
You can read the name Ar-Razzaq as many times as you want. Loudly say Ar-Razzaq when you are getting into trouble, believing Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) is your provider and He can provide you Rizq from places you have never imagined. You can establish a routine to remember Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) by this attribute. It can significantly impact your life and your relationship with Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى).
Allah is Ar-Razzaq. Anyone who recites this name with a firm belief will be rewarded with sustenance that will be enough for his life. There are many forms of Rizq other than worldly wealth. The one who has spiritual contentment has been blessed with one of the most significant forms of Rizq. You can ponder this name of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) in moments of Solitude and when you struggle to achieve wealth.
Incorporating the name Ar-Razzaq into our daily lives can have a tremendous impact. We know that our provisions are already written by Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى). In Sahih Bukhari 6594, it is stated that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) sends an angel (before the birth of a person) and orders the angel to write four things: his sustenance, his life (age), and whether he will be blessed or wretched in the Hereafter. Then, the soul is breathed into the person.
Rizq is pre-written, but we do not know what Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) has written for us. But we all know He (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) has ordered us to work hard, earn Halaal, stay away from Haram, avoid Interest, do charity, and spend generously yet wisely on our family. When Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) gives you wealth, don’t become extravagant, and when He (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) deprives you of wealth, do not despair, as this worldly wealth is nothing but a test and trial for all of us.
Be careful while earning and fear Allah in your dealings. It was narrated by Jabir Bin Abdullah (رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ) that be moderate in seeking a living and fear Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) as no soul will die until it has received all his Rizq, even if it is slow. The Prophet (ﷺ) added, “take the permissible one, leave the forbidden one, and fear Allah in your dealings.”
It is essential and an obligation upon parents to give their child a good, reputable, and representable name. Naming children after the name of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) is recommended, but it is crucial to add Abdul before the name because the attribute solely belongs to Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى). We are nothing but His humble slaves. For example, we can name the child Abul-Razzaq, the slave of Razzaq. Naming children after the name of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) is a way to connect our children with their creator.
The names of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) with the same meaning as Ar-Razzaq are as follows:
All these attributes of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) complement each other. Hazrat Ibrahim (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) beautifully addresses polytheists, telling them that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) alone has the right to be worshipped. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) mentions it in the Quran, Surah Ash-Shu’ara:
ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَنِى فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ ٧٨ وَٱلَّذِى هُوَ يُطْعِمُنِى وَيَسْقِينِ O وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ O وَٱلَّذِى يُمِيتُنِى ثُمَّ يُحْيِينِ
He is the One Who created me, and He alone guides me. He is the One Who provides me with food and drink. And He alone heals me when I am sick. And He is the One Who will cause me to die and then bring me back to life. These verses mention that the worldly rizq, such as food and drink, is solely from Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى), and He alone deserves worship because He (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) is our creator.
Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) repeatedly mentions in the Quran and Hadith that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) is Ar-Razzaq and Rizq is under his control. He (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) has already destined our provisions. He (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) has sent us into this world to worship Him and not to get trapped by worldly things. Although it is permissible and recommended to work hard and earn well, getting worried, annoyed, and despairing about these things is not recommended. Remember, Allah is Ar-Razzaq, and rizq is from Him. Your job is to work hard, do your best and then rely on Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى). Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) says in the Quran:
وَلَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰجًۭا مِّنْهُمْ زَهْرَةَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا لِنَفْتِنَهُمْ فِيهِ ۚ وَرِزْقُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌۭ وَأَبْقَىٰ
Do not let your eyes crave what We have allowed some of the disbelievers to enjoy: the ˹fleeting˺ the splendor of this worldly life, which We test them with. But your Lord’s provision in the Hereafter is far better and more lasting. Remember, as Muslims, our goal is to ace the Hereafter.
