(331) بَابُ لا تَسُبُّوا الدَّهْرَ

(331) Chapter: Do not curse time

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ يَحْيَى الأَنْصَارِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ: لاَ يَقُلْ أَحَدُكُمْ: يَا خَيْبَةَ الدَّهْرِ، قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: أَنَا الدَّهْرُ، أُرْسِلُ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ، فَإِذَا شِئْتُ قَبَضْتُهُمَا. وَلاَ يَقُولَنَّ لِلْعِنَبِ: الْكَرْمَ، فَإِنَّ الْكَرْمَ الرَّجُلُ الْمُسْلِمُ.


Abu Hurayra reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him andgrant him peace, said, "None of you should say, 'May time be disappointed!'Allah Almighty said, 'I am time (ad-Dahr). I send the night andthe day. If I so wished, I could take them away.' None of you should thegrape-vine 'karm" (instead of 'inab). Karm* is theMuslim man."
