3. Dushanbe Imam Abu Hanifa Cathedral Mosque

 

Constructed over a long period of ten years, the Dushanbe Imam Abu Hanifa Cathedral Mosque is the largest mosque in Tajikistan and among the largest in Central Asia. Recently inaugurated on June 8, 2023, it is now open for visiting and prayers to the general public. It was named after Imam-e-Azam Abu Hanifa to celebrate his legacy and service to Islam. The enormous mosque complex can generously accommodate around 133,000 worshippers at a time. It is constructed with the contribution of the state of Qatar. The Emir of its state also participated in the inauguration of the mosque as well. The mosque has 4 minarets that are 74 meters high, including two smaller decorative minarets 21 meters high. It features a large beautiful dome 43 meters high surrounded by 17 small domes 35 meters high.
