Hoji Yaqub Mosque is located on the central city highway of Dushanbe near the Islamic University. The mosque is named after Hoji Yaqub, a famous Tajik general and religious leader. Built in a Persian style, it is as colorful as its counterparts in Iran. Tajiks are known to have originated in Persia. The mosque shows the influence of this historical connection in the intricate designs on its exterior. It was first built in 1856, financed by Haji Yaqub and his mother. The mosque has since been renovated several times, and again recently with modern facilities. The vast prayer hall of the mosque can accommodate around 3,000 worshippers at a time. The mosque is immensely popular among the locals for Friday prayers and Eid congregational prayers.
Prophet Muhammad's Mosque is an example of the love and dedication of Muslims all over the world for the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). It is located near Firdavsi Park in the Firdavsi District of the city. The mosque is loved by the locals for being clean and tidy. The Imam and custodians of the mosque are well-respected for being pleasant and knowledgeable and recommended by many for advice regarding religious matters. Constructed over a long period of ten years, the Dushanbe Imam Abu Hanifa Cathedral Mosque is the largest mosque in Tajikistan and among the largest in Central Asia. Recently inaugurated on June 8, 2023, it is now open for visiting and prayers to the general public. It was named after Imam-e-Azam Abu Hanifa to celebrate his legacy and service to Islam. The enormous mosque complex can generously accommodate around 133,000 worshippers at a time. It is constructed with the contribution of the state of Qatar. The Emir of its state also participated in the inauguration of the mosque as well. The mosque has 4 minarets that are 74 meters high, including two smaller decorative minarets 21 meters high. It features a large beautiful dome 43 meters high surrounded by 17 small domes 35 meters high.

Located in a humble residential area, Sari Osiyo Mosque is immensely popular for its Friday sermons and prayers. It is frequented by many travelers roaming the neighborhood to admire the traditional beauty of the city. The Khutbah by the Imam of the mosque is admired by many local worshippers. The mosque is decorated with traditional Persian-influenced Islamic designs, representing the region's cultural history. Its interior is furnished with traditional designs blending with modern styles. There are four floors accommodating worshippers and a religious school. The mosque is well-maintained and kept clean by its custodians.
Shohmanur mosque is among the largest mosques in Tajikistan. It is located near a busy emergency hospital, an accessible location for nearby worshippers. Its custodians are commended for maintaining and taking care of the mosque. It is near the city's main airport at a distance of about 2.2 kilometers by car, making it accessible for travelers and tourists. On Fridays, the mosque becomes full of eager worshippers.
Congregational prayers or Jama'ah (or Jamaat) is an Islamic tradition of performing prayers with fellow Muslims headed by an Imam. It holds tremendous importance in Islam, with Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) setting an example with his regular efforts in his life to pray with the congregation of his fellow companions. Abdullah ibn Abbas narrated Prophet Muhammad saying, "If anyone hears him who makes the call to prayer and is not prevented from joining the congregation by any excuse - he was asked what an excuse consisted of and replied that it was fear or illness - the prayer he offers will not be accepted from him."
