While the Muslim population in Busan is relatively smaller, there are a few neighborhood mosques and an Islamic center catering to the needs of the nearby Muslims. Busan, officially known as Busan Metropolitan City, is South Korea's second most populous city after Seoul. It has a major port and is an international city, popular for its fish market and beaches. According to the Korea Muslim Federation, about 200,000 Muslims live in South Korea, of which about 70 to 80 percent are foreigners.
Muslims living in Busan belong to an even smaller demographic of the city. With Islam being the fastest-growing religion in the world, Muslims are seeing a steady growth in population in the city. Apart from the main Busan Mosque, smaller facilities catering to the needs of the Muslims have started popping up across the city. Here are some other humble neighborhood mosques and a few suggestions for halal restaurants from us.
Also known as Busan Al-Fatah Masjid, the mosque is the central mosque for Muslims in Busan. The establishment provides a purpose-built space for the congregational needs of the Muslims. It is the second Masjid built in Korea, located in the Namsan district of Busan, the second largest city in Korea. The mosque began in September 1979 and was completed in September 1980, with an annex building for the Islamic Center. It was built with the sincere dedication of Dr. Ali al-Falaq, former minister of Finance of Libya.
The mosque has a unique dome, an amalgamation of the local architectural influences and global Islamic designs. A distinct minaret representing the Islamic identity of the Muslims stands at the corner of the building. The interior is adorned with simple ornamental Islamic designs with a wooden Mihrab and Minbar. The Jummah Khutbahs (Friday sermons) are immensely popular with the local Muslims and are given in English and Urdu by the Imam.

Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) emphasized the importance of congregational prayer (Jamaat) several times. He (ﷺ) himself made sure never to miss mandatory daily prayers with the congregation. It was narrated that Ma'din bin Abi Talhah Al-Ya'muri (رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ) said: "Abu Ad-Darda (رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ) said to me: 'Where do you live?' I said: 'In a town near Hims.' Abu Ad-Darda said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: "There are no three people in a town or encampment among whom prayer is not established, but the Shaitan takes control of them. Therefore, stick to the congregation, for the wolf eats the sheep that strays off on its own." (One of the narrators (As Sa'ib) said: "The congregation means the congregational prayer."
