Thus it was; and We made the children of Israel possess them.

'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī
تفسير : (thus) i do with the ones who disobey me, (and we caused the children of israel to inherit them) to inherit egypt after their destruction.
Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī
تفسير : so [it was], that is, our expulsion [of them] was as we have described, and we made the children of israel to inherit these, after drowning pharaoh and his folk.
