Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray.

'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī
تفسير : (and forgive my father) and guide my father through me. (lo! he is of those who err) he is in error, a disbeliever.
Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī
تفسير : and forgive my father, for indeed he is one of those who are astray, by your relenting to him and forgiving him: this was before it became clear to him [abraham] that he [his father] was an enemy of god, as mentioned in sūrat barā’a [q. 9:114].
