69 - Al-Haqqa

يٰلَيْتَہَا كَانَتِ الْقَاضِيَۃَ۝۲۷ۚ
Ya laytaha kanati alqadiyatu

Tafseer

'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī

تفسير : oh, would that it had been death!) he will wish for death; he says: i wish i remained dead after my first death.

Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī

تفسير : o would that it, namely, death in [the life of] this world, had been the [final] end, that had terminated my life, so that i am not resurrected.

Sahl al-Tustari

تفسير : ‘o, would that it had been the final end!’that is, ‘if only the first death had remained with me, and i had not been resurrected!’
