What has come upon you that you do not fear the majesty of God,

'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī
تفسير : (what aileth you that ye hope not towards allah for dignity) what ails you that you do not fear allah's might and majesty; and it is also said that this means: what ails you that you do not magnify allah as he deserves to be magnified and, thus, believe in his divine oneness.
Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī
تفسير : what is wrong with you that you do not hope for dignity from god, that is to say, [that] you [do not] hope that god will dignify you by becoming believers,
