تفسير : (thou art not) o muhammad (at all a warder over them) you are not imposed on them such that you force them to accept faith.

تفسير : you are not a taskmaster over them (a variant reading [for musaytir] has musaytir, that is to say, [not one who has been] given authority over them) — this was [revealed] before the command to struggle [against the disbelievers].
