In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment.

Tafseer
'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī
تفسير : (allah will punish him) in the hereafter (with direst punishment) i.e. with the punishment of the fire.
Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī
تفسير : god will chastise him with the greater chastisement, the chastisement of the hereafter, the lesser chastisement being that of this world, that of being killed or taken captive.
