SubhanAllahi Wa Bihamdihi in Arabic: سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ، سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ العَظِيم

SubhanAllahi Wa Bihamdihi Transliteration: SubhanAllahi Wa Bihamdihi, SubhanAllahil Azeem

SubhanAllahi Wa Bihamdihi Translation: “Glory be to Allah and all praise is due to Him, glory be to Allah the great."

One of the best ways to increase your rewards with Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى is to recite the ‘SubhanAllahi Wabihamdihi’ tasbih. It is one of the most popular adhkars, and its recitation has been reiterated by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ repeatedly. This tasbih essentially accentuates the very fundamentals of Islam, which is believing in the oneness of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى and considering Him above everything and omnipotent. Reciting this tasbih throughout the day wipes away a person’s sins and increases his rewards. Abu Dharr رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was asked as to which words were the best. He said: “Those for which Allah made a choice for His Angels and His servants (and the words are): "Hallowed be Allah and praise is due to Him." - Sahih Muslim 2731 a.

Morning and Evening

One of the best times to recite it is in the morning and evening, as directed in the following Hadith. Abu Hurairah رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ reported:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said,

"He who recites in the morning and in the evening the statement: 'Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi (Allah is free from imperfection and I begin with praising Him)' one hundred times, will not be surpassed on the Day of Resurrection by anyone with better deeds than one who utters the same words or utters more of these words."[Muslim]. Benefits of Reciting SubhanAllahi Wabihamdihi

Wipes Away Sins

This tasbih is one of the easiest ways to wipe away one's sins, no matter how many they may be, and increase one's rewards at the same time.

Narrated Abu Hurairaرَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Whoever says, 'Subhan Allah wa bihamdihi,' one hundred times a day, will be forgiven all his sins even if they were as much as the foam of the sea.” Source: Sahih al-Bukhari 6405

Helpful on the Day of Judgement

To recite SubhanAllahi Wabihamdihi is utterly convenient on the tongue, but its weightage on the scale on the day of Judgement is unprecedented.

Narrated Abu Huraira رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "(The following are) two words (sentences or utterances) that are very easy for the tongue to say, and very heavy in the balance (of reward), and most beloved to the Gracious Almighty (And they are): Subhan Allahi wa bi-hamdihi; Subhan Allahi-l-'Adhim," Source: Sahih al-Bukhari 6682

Helps Gain Virtues

By reciting this tasbih, one thousand virtues are awarded every day to the person, and at the same time, one thousand vices are blotted out.

Mus'ab b. Sa'd رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ reported that his father told him that he had been in the company of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) that he said: “Is one amongst you powerless to get one thousand virtues every day. Amongst those who had been sitting there, one asked: How one amongst us can get one thousand virtues every day? He said: Recite:" Hallowed be Allah" one hundred times for (by reciting them) one thousand virtues are recorded (to your credit), and one thousand vices are blotted out." Source: Sahih Muslim 2698

Immense Rewards by Allah

Reciting this short tasbih’s virtue is equivalent to the virtues gained by engaging in ibadah all day.

Juwairiyah bint Al-Harith رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهَا, the Mother of the Believers, reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) came out from my apartment in the morning as I was busy in performing the dawn prayer. He came back in the forenoon and found me sitting there. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Are you still in the same position as I left you." I replied in the affirmative. Thereupon, the Prophet said, "I recited four words three times after I had left you. If these are to be weighed against all you have recited since morning, these will be heavier. These are Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi, `adada khalqihi, wa rida nafsihi, wa zinatah `arshihi, wa midada kalimatihi [Allah is free from imperfection, and I begin with His praise, as many times as the number of His creatures, in accordance with His Good Pleasure, equal to the weight of His Throne and equal to the ink that may be used in recording the words (for His Praise)].” Source: Riyad us saliheen 1433
