Day of Arafah is the 9th day of Dhul Hijjah, an important day for pilgrims who have embarked on the journey of the great pilgrimage as well as Muslims all across the world. Day of Arafah is significant in multiple ways, and its importance can be understood from the following hadith- narrated by Abdur Rahman bin Ya’mar and reported in Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2975, “The Hajj is 'Arafat, the Hajj is 'Arafat, the Hajj is 'Arafat.
The days of Mina are three: But whoever hastens to leave in two days, there is no sin on him, and whoever stays on, there is no sin on him”. For those who are not on Hajj, the day of Arafah is the day of fasting, and Muslims all across the world should make dua on the day of Arafah in abundance. There is no specific dua, but one should pray whatever their heart desires and pour their heart out to Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) to seek His mercy.
Hajj & Umrah Duas
Laa 'ilaaha 'illallaahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa Huwa 'alaa kulli shay'in Qadeer.
The best invocation is that of the Day of Arafat, and the best that anyone can say is what I and the Prophets before me have said: "None has the right to be worshiped but Allah alone, Who has no partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is Able to do all things".
There is no prescribed way of making dua on the day of Arafah, but the best dua or prayer is the one that is said with humility and the faith that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) is the Only One who we turn to and to Him will be our return. Fasting on the day of Arafah is a practice that is highly recommended.
When making dua on the day of Arafah, do it with the conviction of pleasing Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) and seeking His forgiveness and mercy with humility. Make prayers with sincerity and use this opportunity to seek Allah’s favors and His benevolence.
Making dua on the day of Arafah can help one find contentment and a spiritual connection with their religion as well as their Creator. This makes one insightful for how they have spent the entire year and how they choose to live their life. Making abundant dua on this day makes one humble in their prayers and also allows one to become grateful for what they have been given in life and the favors of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى).
The day of Arafah is the day of acceptance of prayers, hence why one should make dua in abundance that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) will do what is best for them.
On this day, it is recommended to fast, pray in abundance, seek Allah’s forgiveness, and be in continuous dhikr. This is the day to strive to do good.
