(469) بَابُ مَنْ تَرَكَ السَّلامَ عَلَى الْمُتَخَلِّقِ وَأَصْحَابِ الْمَعَاصِي
Muhammad ibn 'Abdullah reported that a man came to the Prophet,may Allah bless him and grant him peace, wearing a gold signet-ring onhis finger. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, turnedaway from him. When the man saw his dislike of the gold, he threw the ringaway. He made an iron ring and wore that. He came to the Prophet, may Allahbless him and grant him peace, who said, "This is worse. This is the ornamentof the people of the Fire." The man went away, threw it off and put ona silver ring and the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace,did not say anything about it."
