٨ - ٱلْأَنْفَال

8 - Al-Anfal

وَلَوْ عَلِمَ اللہُ فِيْہِمْ خَيْرًا لَّاَسْمَعَہُمْ۝۰ۭ وَلَوْ اَسْمَعَہُمْ لَتَوَلَّوْا وَّہُمْ مُّعْرِضُوْنَ۝۲۳
Walaw AAalima Allahu feehim khayran laasmaAAahum walaw asmaAAahum latawallaw wahum muAAridoona

If God had seen any good in them He would surely have made them hear. Now even if He makes them hear they will turn away (in obduracy).

Tafseer

'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī

تفسير : (had allah known of any good) felicity (in them) i.e. in the banu 'abd al-dar (he would have made them hear) he would have honoured them with faith, (but had he made them hear) had he honoured them with faith (they would have turned away) from faith due to allah's foreknowledge about them, (averse) they are disbelieving in it.

Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī

تفسير : for had god known of any good in them, any righteousness, were they to listen to the truth, he would have made them hear, in such a way as to understand; and had he made them hear — hypothetically speaking — already knowing that there is no good in them, they would have turned away, from it, averse, to accepting it, out of obstinacy and in denial.

Sahl al-Tustari

تفسير : for had god known any good in them, he would indeed have made them hear…that is, he would have opened the locks of their hearts with faith.his words:
