If they still turn away, your duty is to warn them in clear terms.

'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī
تفسير : (then, if they turn away) from faith, (thy duty (o muhammad) is but plain conveyance (of the message)) from allah in a language that you understand.
Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī
تفسير : but if they turn away, [if] they reject islam, your duty, o muhammad (s), is only to convey [the message] plainly — this was [revealed] before the command to fight [the disbelievers].
