Verse. 2063

١٧ - ٱلْإِسْرَاء

17 - Al-Isra

وَلَا تَقْرَبُوْا مَالَ الْيَتِيْمِ اِلَّا بِالَّتِيْ ھِيَ اَحْسَنُ حَتّٰى يَبْلُغَ اَشُدَّہٗ۝۰۠ وَاَوْفُوْا بِالْعَہْدِ۝۰ۚ اِنَّ الْعَہْدَ كَانَ مَسْــــُٔـوْلًا۝۳۴
Wala taqraboo mala alyateemi illa biallatee hiya ahsanu hatta yablugha ashuddahu waawfoo bialAAahdi inna alAAahda kana masoolan

And do not touch the property of the orphans except for bettering it, until they come of age; and fulfil the promise made: You will surely be questioned about the promise.

Tafseer

'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī

تفسير : (come not near the wealth of the orphan save with that which is better) through generating profit from it and by means of preserving it (till he come to strength) 15 or 18 years old; (and keep the covenant) that you pledged in the name of allah between you and people. (lo! of the covenant) the one who breaks the covenant (it will be asked) why he broke it on the day of judgement.

Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī

تفسير : and do not come [anywhere] near an orphan’s property, except in the fairest manner until he comes of age. and fulfil the covenant, should you make a covenant with god or with people [in general]. indeed the covenant will be enquired into.
