تفسير : (and they say) i.e. the jews: (the beneficent hath taken unto himself a son) he has taken ezra ('uzayr) as his son.

تفسير : and they say, that is, the jews and the christians and those who claim that the angels are god’s daughters, ‘the compassionate one has taken a son’. [but] god, exalted be he, says to them:
