'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī

تفسير : and on his authority he related from ibn 'abbas regarding the saying of allah, exalted is he: (alif. lam. mim.) that he said: 'allah informed us about the story of the delegation of najran; it is also said that this is an oath by which allah swore that he is one and that he has neither progeny nor partner.

Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī

تفسير : alif lām mīm: god knows best what he means by these [letters].

Sahl al-Tustari

تفسير : alif, lām, mīm. ! god! there is no god except him, the living, the eternal sustainer.he [sahl] said:it [allāh] is god’s greatest name, which is written across the sky in green light from east to west.
