'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī
تفسير : (and who, i ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the day of judgement) on the day of reckoning. his sins being his pretending that he was sick, and claiming that it was the biggest idol that smashed the smaller ones and also that his wife was his sister.
Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī
تفسير : and who, i hope, will forgive me my iniquity on the day of judgement, [the day] of requital.
Sahl al-Tustari
تفسير : ‘and who, i hope, will forgive my iniquity on the day of judgement.’he [abraham] expressed his words according to the requisites of propriety (adab) [before god], [poised] between fear and hope, and did not [assume] that forgiveness had been predeterminedfor him. his words, exalted is he:
