٢٨ - ٱلْقَصَص

28 - Al-Qasas

فَخَـــرَجَ عَلٰي قَوْمِہٖ فِيْ زِيْنَتِہٖ۝۰ۭ قَالَ الَّذِيْنَ يُرِيْدُوْنَ الْحَيٰوۃَ الدُّنْيَا يٰلَيْتَ لَنَا مِثْلَ مَاۗ اُوْتِيَ قَارُوْنُ۝۰ۙ اِنَّہٗ لَذُوْ حَظٍّ عَظِيْمٍ۝۷۹
Fakharaja AAala qawmihi fee zeenatihi qala allatheena yureedoona alhayata alddunya ya layta lana mithla ma ootiya qaroonu innahu lathoo haththin AAatheemin

Then he came before his people in all pomp; and those enamoured of this world, said: "Ah would that we had what Qarun has been given! He indeed possesses great good fortune."

Tafseer

'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī

تفسير : (then went he forth) i.e. korah (before his people in his pomp) his horses, mules, servant boys and servant girls, attires of gold and silver and different kinds of arms and clothes. (those who were desirous of the life of the world said: ah, would that unto us had been given the like of what has been given unto korah) of wealth! (lo! he is lord of rare good fortune.

Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī

تفسير : so he, korah, emerged before his people in his finery, with his large retinue [all of them] in procession dressed in gold and silk garments and mounted on adorned horses and mules. those who desired the life of this world said, ‘o (yā is for drawing attention) would that we had the like of what korah has been given, this world. truly he enjoys great fortune’, abundant [fortune] in it.
