٣٢ - ٱلسَّجْدَة

32 - As-Sajda

يُدَبِّرُ الْاَمْرَ مِنَ السَّمَاۗءِ اِلَى الْاَرْضِ ثُمَّ يَعْرُجُ اِلَيْہِ فِيْ يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُہٗۗ اَلْفَ سَـنَۃٍ مِّمَّا تَعُدُّوْنَ۝۵
Yudabbiru alamra mina alssamai ila alardi thumma yaAAruju ilayhi fee yawmin kana miqdaruhu alfa sanatin mimma taAAuddoona

He regulates all affairs from high to low, then they rise to perfection step by step in a (heavenly) day whose measure is a thousand years of your reckoning.

Tafseer

'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī

تفسير : (he directeth the ordinance from the heaven unto the earth) he sends the angels with revelation, scriptures and misfortunes; (then it ascendeth unto him) the angels ascend to him (in a day, whereof the measure) the measure of its ascent for other than the angels (is a thousand years of that you reckon) of the years of the life of this world.

Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī

تفسير : he directs the command from the heaven to the earth, for the duration of this world, then it ascends, then the command and the direction [thereof] returns, to him in a day whose measure is a thousand years by your reckoning, in this world. in sūrat sa’ala, [an asker] asked [the measure is said to be]: ‘fifty thousand years’ [q. 70:4] — and this [day] is the day of resurrection, [reckoned so] because of the severity of its terrors for the disbeliever. as for the believer, however, for him it will be easier than performing any one of [his] obligatory prayers in this world — as is stated in hadīth.

Sahl al-Tustari

تفسير : he directs the command from the heaven to the earth…he said:he reveals to his servants from his knowledge that which is a means of guidance (hudā) and salvation (najāt) for them. the person who is content with the destined provision (rizq al-qaḍāʾ) resulting from god’s management [of things] (tadbīr) for him, will have the evil of his own devising (tadbīr) disposed of and removed from him. thus [god] will have returned him to a state of contentment (riḍā) with the divine decree (qaḍāʾ), and rectitude (istiqāma) in the face of the unfolding course of what is destined for him. [such people] are among those who are brought into proximity [with him] (muqarrabūn). truly, god, exalted is he, created people without any veil, and then made their devising [for themselves] (tadbīr) into their veil. his words, exalted is he:
