٣٧ - ٱلصَّافَّات

37 - As-Saffat

اِنَّہُمْ كَانُوْۗا اِذَا قِيْلَ لَہُمْ لَاۗ اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اؙ۝۰ۙ يَسْتَكْبِرُوْنَ۝۳۵ۙ
Innahum kanoo itha qeela lahum la ilaha illa Allahu yastakbiroona

Tafseer

'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī

تفسير : (for when it was said unto them) in the life of the world, say: (there is no god save allah, they were scornful) they were too proud to say it

Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī

تفسير : for truly it was they who, in other words, [it was] these [sinners] who — given the context that follows — when it was said to them, ‘there is no god except god’, used to be scornful,
