'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī
تفسير : (and they were unable to rise up) following allah's chastisement, (nor could they help themselves) nor could their bodies avert the chastisement.
Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī
تفسير : so they were unable to rise up, they could not get up upon the sending down of the chastisement, nor were they victors, over the one who destroyed them.
