٥٢ - ٱلطُّور

52 - At-Tour

اَمْ تَسْـَٔــلُہُمْ اَجْرًا فَہُمْ مِّنْ مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُوْنَ۝۴۰ۭ
Am tasaluhum ajran fahum min maghramin muthqaloona

Tafseer

'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī

تفسير : (or askest thou) o muhammad (a fee from them) in exchange for their faith (so that they are plunged in debt) so that they are drowned in debt if they accept to give you a fee?

Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī

تفسير : or are you asking them for a fee, a wage in return for what you have brought them in the way of religion, so that they are weighed down with debt?, [with] the liability for this, so that they are unable to submit [to god].
