We shall send the she-camel to try them. So watch them, and be constant.

'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī
تفسير : then allah said to salih: (lo! we are sending the she-camel) we shall bring forth the she-camel from the rock (as a test for them) as a trial for your folk; (so watch them) wait until the she-camel is brought forth (and have patience) for the harm coming to you and for the killing of the she-camel;
Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī
تفسير : lo! we are sending the she-camel, we will bring it forth out of the mountain, the rock, as they demanded, as a trial, a test, for them, that we may try them. so watch them, o sālih, await [to see] what they will do and what will be done with them, and remain patient (istabir: the tā’ here has replaced the tā’ of [the 8th form] ifta‘ala), in other words, endure their harm.
