76 - Al-Insan

اِنَّ الْاَبْرَارَ يَشْرَبُوْنَ مِنْ كَاْسٍ كَانَ مِزَاجُہَا كَافُوْرًا۝۵ۚ
Inna alabrara yashraboona min kasin kana mizajuha kafooran

Tafseer

'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī

تفسير : lo! the righteous) who are true in their faith and obey allah (shall drink of a cup) shall drink wine in paradise (whereof the mixture is of water of kafur,

Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī

تفسير : truly the righteous (abrār is the plural of barr or bārr), namely, the obedient ones, will drink from a cup (ka’s is a vessel for drinking wine and this [wine] will be in it; what is meant is [that they will drink] from ‘wine’, [a case where] the actuality is referred to by the name of the locus [in which it is found]; min, ‘from, is partitive) whose mixture, that with which it is mixed, is camphor;

Sahl al-Tustari

تفسير : truly the righteous will drink from a cup whose mixture is camphor.he said:[these are] the righteous (abrār), who took on one of the characteristics of the ten [companions]concerning whom the messenger of god <img border="0" src="images/salatonmassenger.jpg" width="24" height="22"> bore witness that they would go to paradise. he was asked, ‘what are the most important characteristic moral traits that we should have?’he replied:to show endurance (iḥtimāl) in the face of hardship (maʾūna), compassion (rifq) in every situation,and caution against inclining to one’s lower passion if one is elevated [in rank]. among these qualities is the attainment of the intellect (iktisāb al-ʿaql).then there are another three which are necessary: attaining gnosis (iktisāb al-maʿrifa), and putting one’s knowledge into practice (istiʿmāl al-ʿilm), clemency (ḥilm) and humility (tawāḍuʿ).yet still there are a further three [characteristics] which are necessary to acquire, and which contain the precepts of worship (aḥkām al-taʿabbud), namely: serenity (sakīna), dignified bearing (waqār) and equity (inṣāf). he also said:the earth will not consume the body of anyone who keeps the following three qualities: refrainingfrom harming people, bearing the harm that comes from them and doing good to them.
