'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī
تفسير : (lo! we fear from our lord) from the punishment of our lord (a day of frowning) when faces are frowning (and of fate) a hard day whose torment and horrors are severe.
Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī
تفسير : indeed we fear from our lord a day of frowning, one in which faces scowl, in other words, a horrid day to observe on account of its severity, calamitous’, severe in that respect.
