Known as Mahabbah Fillah in Arabic, loving for the sake of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) is a love that is based on one's shared belief in Allah. Sharing such love is reflective of great respect and sincerity for the sake of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى). Love as an emotion is what humans thrive on. While it may be difficult and complex, love and affection are forms of sustenance. When declared by someone solely for the sake of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى), that bond is that of purity and genuine human concern and regard.
Narrated by Abu Hurairah and reported in Sahih Muslim 2566, Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said that on the day of judgment, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) would ask – where are those who love each other for the sake of My Majesty? Today, I will shelter them in My shade on a day when there is no shade but Mine.
Morning & Evening
Asbahnaa wa 'asbahal-mulku (Amsaynaa wa 'amsal-mulku) lillaahi Rabbil-'aalameen, Allaahumma 'innee 'as'aluka khayra haathal-yawmi (laylati), Fathahu wa nasrahu wa noorahu, wa barakatahu, wa hudaahu, wa'a'oothu bika min sharri maafeehi wa sharri maa ba'dahu.
We have entered the morning (evening) and with it all the dominion which belongs to Allah, Lord of all that exists. O Allah, I ask You for the goodness of this day, its victory, its help, its light, its blessings, and its guidance. I seek refuge in You from the evil that is in it and from the evil that follows it.(Recite in the bracket in the evening.)
The etiquette of making dua for one who pronounces his love for you, for Allah’s sake, is that one should pray with a genuine intention of seeking Allah's blessing and love for that individual. One must truly appreciate the love that others offer them rather than take it in an entitled manner. When making dua, your intentions should be pure in seeking Allah’s love and rewards as well as goodness for the one who loves you for the sake of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى). Acknowledge the love that you receive and be mindful of the sentiment of the one who loves you for Allah's sake when making dua for them.
Making dua for one who pronounces his love for you, for Allah’s sake, can help one feel a sense of gratitude and humbleness. It strengthens the bonds among each other and promotes a respectful and encouraging environment where relationships are founded on love rather than any other gains. It opens one’s heart to love others for the sake of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) and not chase unreal expectations. Such bonds benefit the people as well as society at large because of the way these bonds are based on mutual respect and honor.
Pray for the person who loves you for the sake of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) and that they may be loved by Allah.
To gain Allah’s love, one must do righteous acts and love Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى) by obeying Him and praying for His love from Him.
