Matola is a major city in Mozambique. It is located west of the capital city, Mupato, and is a part of the Mupato Metropolitan Area. Thus, it is considered a significant urban and industrial center of the country. The name of the city, ‘Matola,’ was given after the Ronga chief Matsolo, whose territory once covered the area.
