٧ - ٱلْأَعْرَاف

7 - Al-A'raf

وَاَوْحَيْنَاۗ اِلٰى مُوْسٰۗي اَنْ اَلْقِ عَصَاكَ۝۰ۚ فَاِذَا ہِىَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَاْفِكُوْنَ۝۱۱۷ۚ
Waawhayna ila moosa an alqi AAasaka faitha hiya talqafu ma yafikoona

Ahmed Ali

We said to Moses: "Throw down your staff;" and it swallowed up their conjurations in no time.

117

فَوَقَعَ الْحَقُّ وَبَطَلَ مَا كَانُوْا يَعْمَلُوْنَ۝۱۱۸ۚ
FawaqaAAa alhaqqu wabatala ma kanoo yaAAmaloona

Ahmed Ali

Thus the truth was upheld, and the falsehood that they practised was exposed.

118

فَغُلِبُوْا ہُنَالِكَ وَانْقَلَبُوْا صٰغِرِيْنَ۝۱۱۹ۚ
Faghuliboo hunalika wainqalaboo saghireena

Ahmed Ali

Thus there and then they were vanquished and overthrown, humiliated.

119

وَاُلْقِيَ السَّحَرَۃُ سٰجِدِيْنَ۝۱۲۰ۚۖ
Waolqiya alssaharatu sajideena

Ahmed Ali

The sorcerers fell to the ground in homage,

120

قَالُوْۗا اٰمَنَّا بِرَبِّ الْعٰلَمِيْنَ۝۱۲۱ۙ
Qaloo amanna birabbi alAAalameena

English

Ahmed Ali

And said: "We have come to believe in the Lord of all the worlds,

121

رَبِّ مُوْسٰي وَہٰرُوْنَ۝۱۲۲
Rabbi moosa waharoona

English

Ahmed Ali

"The Lord of Moses and Aaron."

122

قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ اٰمَنْتُمْ بِہٖ قَبْلَ اَنْ اٰذَنَ لَكُمْ۝۰ۚ اِنَّ ہٰذَا لَمَكْرٌ مَّكَرْتُمُوْہُ فِي الْمَدِيْنَۃِ لِتُخْرِجُوْا مِنْہَاۗ اَہْلَہَا۝۰ۚ فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُوْنَ۝۱۲۳
Qala firAAawnu amantum bihi qabla an athana lakum inna hatha lamakrun makartumoohu fee almadeenati litukhrijoo minha ahlaha fasawfa taAAlamoona

Ahmed Ali

But Pharaoh said: "You have come to accept belief in Him without my permission! This surely is a plot you have hatched to expel the people from the land. You will soon come to know.

123

لَاُقَطِّعَنَّ اَيْدِيَكُمْ وَاَرْجُلَكُمْ مِّنْ خِلَافٍ ثُمَّ لَاُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ اَجْمَعِيْنَ۝۱۲۴
LaoqatiAAanna aydiyakum waarjulakum min khilafin thumma laosallibannakum ajmaAAeena

Ahmed Ali

"I will have your hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, and have you all crucified."

124

قَالُوْۗا اِنَّاۗ اِلٰى رَبِّنَا مُنْقَلِبُوْنَ۝۱۲۵ۚ
Qaloo inna ila rabbina munqaliboona

Ahmed Ali

They answered: "We have (in any case) to go back to our Lord.

125

وَمَا تَنْقِمُ مِنَّاۗ اِلَّاۗ اَنْ اٰمَنَّا بِاٰيٰتِ رَبِّنَا لَمَّا جَاۗءَتْنَا۝۰ۭ رَبَّنَاۗ اَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَتَوَفَّنَا مُسْلِـمِيْنَ۝۱۲۶ۧ
Wama tanqimu minna illa an amanna biayati rabbina lamma jaatna rabbana afrigh AAalayna sabran watawaffana muslimeena

Ahmed Ali

"The only reason you have to hate us is that we believed in the signs of our Lord as they came to us. O our Lord, give us sufficient endurance that we may die submitting (to You)."
