٩ - ٱلتَّوْبَة

9 - At-Tawba

اَلْمُنٰفِقُوْنَ وَالْمُنٰفِقٰتُ بَعْضُہُمْ مِّنْۢ بَعْضٍ۝۰ۘ يَاْمُرُوْنَ بِالْمُنْكَرِ وَيَنْہَوْنَ عَنِ الْمَعْرُوْفِ وَيَقْبِضُوْنَ اَيْدِيَہُمْ۝۰ۭ نَسُوا اللہَ فَنَسِيَہُمْ۝۰ۭ اِنَّ الْمُنٰفِقِيْنَ ہُمُ الْفٰسِقُوْنَ۝۶۷
Almunafiqoona waalmunafiqatu baAAduhum min baAAdin yamuroona bialmunkari wayanhawna AAani almaAAroofi wayaqbidoona aydiyahum nasoo Allaha fanasiyahum inna almunafiqeena humu alfasiqoona

Ahmed Ali

The hypocrites (are the same) whether men or women, the one of them being of the other. They encourage what is bad and dissuade from the good, and tighten their purses (when it comes to spending in the way of God). Of God they are oblivious; so He is oblivious of them. The hypocrites are indeed transgressors.

Tafseer

'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī

تفسير : (the hypocrites, both men and women, proceed one from another) they follow inwardly each other's religion. (they enjoin the wrong) disbelief and opposition of the messenger, (and they forbid the right) faith and compliance with the messenger, (and they withhold their hands) from spending in works of goodness. (they forget allah) they have left allah's obedience inwardly, (so he hath forgotten them) he has forsaken them in the life of this world and left them in the hereafter in hell. (lo! the hypocrites, they are the transgressors) the disbelievers inwardly.

Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī

تفسير : the hypocrites, both men and women, are of one another, that is, they resemble one another in religion, as pieces of an individual entity, they enjoin indecency, unbelief and acts of disobedience, and forbid decency, faith and obedience; and they withhold their hands shut, from expending in obedience [of god]; they have forgotten god, they have abandoned obedience of him, so he has forgotten them, he has deprived them of his grace. truly the hypocrites, they are the wicked.

Sahl al-Tustari

تفسير : …they have forgotten god, so he has forgotten them…he said:this means that they have forgotten the bounties (niʿam) of god that they had, and he has made them forget to show gratitude (shukr) for those bounties.his words:
