٢٥ - ٱلْفُرْقَان

25 - Al-Furqan

وَہُوَالَّذِيْۗ اَرْسَلَ الرِّيٰحَ بُشْرًۢا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَحْمَتِہٖ۝۰ۚ وَاَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَاۗءِ مَاۗءً طَہُوْرًا۝۴۸ۙ
Wahuwa allathee arsala alrriyaha bushran bayna yaday rahmatihi waanzalna mina alssamai maan tahooran

It is He who sends the winds with auspicious news in advance of His benevolence; and We send pure water down from the sky

Tafseer

'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī

تفسير : (and he it is who sendeth the winds, glad tidings heralding his mercy) rain, (and we send down purifying water from the sky) water which purifies and cannot be purified.

Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī

تفسير : and he it is who sends forth the winds (al-riyāha; a variant has al-rīha, ‘the wind’) dispersing before his mercy (nushuran, ‘dispersing’), scattered before the [coming of the] rain (a variant reading has nushran, the singular of which is nashūr, similar [in pattern] to rasūl, ‘messenger’ [plural rusul]; another reading has nashran, as a verbal noun; and a third variant has bushran, in other words, [the winds function as] mubashshirāt, ‘bearers of good tidings’, the singular of which is bashīr); and we send down from the heaven purifying water,
