Tafseer

'Abdullāh Ibn 'Abbās / Muḥammad al-Fīrūzabādī

تفسير : (and there is nothing hidden) secret (in the heaven or the earth) from the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth (but it is in a clear record) recorded in the preserved or guarded tablet.

Jalāl al-Dīn al-Maḥallī

تفسير : and there is not a thing hidden in the heaven and the earth (the hā’ [tā’ marbūta] of ghā’ibatun is hyperbole, in other words, anything that is completely hidden from people) but it is in a manifest book, namely, [in] the preserved tablet (al-lawh al-mahfūz) and in god’s concealed knowledge, an example of which is the [time of the] chastising of the disbelievers.
